Mission of Mercy V2 - Community Heart

In the heart of Kamreang Village, the spirit of community thrives, fostered by several key locations that bring villagers together. At the centre stands a large, ancient tree known as Preah Ang Thom, named after the Khmer legend of a giant, sacred tree believed to be the protector of the village. Beneath its sprawling branches, a memorial honours those who were lost during the turbulent times of the Cambodian Civil War. This sacred site serves as a place of reflection and remembrance, a symbol of resilience and hope.

Next to the memorial, the Hearth Fire Pits blaze warmly, their fires never truly extinguished. These communal cooking areas are where villagers gather to prepare meals, share food, and exchange stories. The scent of traditional Cambodian dishes wafts through the air, drawing people together in a harmonious blend of past and present culinary traditions.

Scattered throughout Kamreang are tables, chairs, and cosy seating areas, inviting villagers to relax and engage in conversation. These spots are more than just places to sit; they are the social fabric of the village, where relationships are nurtured and the communal spirit is strengthened.
